Calculators are /sci/

Physics undergrad here.

These are what I use. I like the graphing, memory and big screen of the TI-80, but it's missing a lot of stuff that TI-83s and 84s have.

The casio is what it is. It's a solid calculator, but starting to act weird. Probably because I found it, filthy, on the floor in my school years ago.

Thinking of replacing both of these with one new calculator. Any suggestions? TIs are so goddamn expensive in the UK, a nice Casio would be cool.

>> No.5624696

I got that casio when i entered highschool. used it through till i graduated from chemE. still use it at work sometimes. its the perfect calculator, sure it cant do complex numbers, solve matrix equations or do numerical integration. but when you want to do that why do it you can either break it into something it can solve, or if its to complex you dont do it half assed and use software like matlab and mathematica. i dont know why people want calculators that try to be shitty small laptops, when we do have laptops.

What part of that didn't you understand.

I got the TI-80 when I saw my high-school maths teacher using it. He said he preferred casio, so I traded him my calculator at the time- this one.

lol seriously? the 991 was standard in every high school. how poor are you actually? also try the TI-Voyage 200

how underage are you? the 83 came out in 2004, the 991 came 4 fucking years after that. do you think that a calculator from 4 years in the future will only be 5 bucks more?

OP here.

Is there a version of the 991 that doesn't look like ass?

there's one similar to the 83.

because mumble mumble

There's no market to push them lower, so they stay the same price.

Because they are deprecated.

You barely need them now everyone and their dog can into Matlab and WoframAlpha.

OP here, just bought a 991MS for £17 ($20)

Only 15 quid as well.

1st year / A-level student detected. You don't need a calculator do to physics you pleb.

Either that or you're going to make a great Astronomer, OP.

>> No.5625677

>>5624804
No because it can handle complex numbers and differentiaton. It needs to look visibly different to the normal Casio because calculators that can handle complex numbers and differentiation are banned in A-level maths exams.

At least when I took them 3-4 years ago they were.
