Is there any way to calculate/predict how to win at blackjack, or at least have better odds?
Is it considered cheating and thus illegal to do?

Blackjack has a slight house edge when played normally. If you count cards however, you gain a slight edge, making betting profitable. While not illegal, you will be kicked out and banned from casinos if you get caught counting.

If it's a martingale (no one has edge) or submartingale (house has edge), no, there's no way to win. If it's a supermartingale (you have an edge), use the Kelly criterion.

What things do you need to take into account when betting? Is it common to find skilled players who are aware of all this methods in the same table as you?

Just google card counting methods. Blackjack is one of the fairest games in a casino and a regular blackjack player will probably have a relatively simple system of betting where they'll win close to 50% of the time.

Although everyone's likely to lose money over time, regular gamblers consider it a cheap source of entertainment that costs just a few dollars an hour.
