Yeah, you dont seem to realize how hydrophobic repulsion works. Its not going to overcome an entire body of fluid.

The cup would fill with water, but instead of being flat on the top the surface of the water would be a convex bubble.

EveryDry is actually 2 layers, with the first layer just being a bunch of non polar solvents, and the second layer essentially being a microscopic amount of silica in acetone. It wouldn't be very fun if you drank this stuff, and it prolly won't make a hydrophobic coating in your body.

As far as I know, after the treatment is done all that is left is microscopic amounts of silica, essentially you would eat tiny amounts of sand and shouldn't be harmful.

Exactly. It's great for outer layers, jackets, hats, that stuff. Also, looking at the video, same particles seem to stick just enough not to fall away with gravity. There's probably still a need to run some water (or whatever really) over an item to get the leftover stuff, which will then fall right off.

I'm not sure you're aware how water slides work, but they've got a fast-running stream of water running in them that carries you along.

>> No.5585594

>>5585286
No, just because it's not wetting the component doesn't mean they aren't close enough to conduct electricity perfectly. If you submerge your PC in a bucket of iron filings you'll get a similar effect.

Though you could probably use nonconductive liquids, but then it doesn't matter unless some water-component interface effect makes one or the other more efficient for cooling; TL;DR try it out and make a youtube video, it only costs you two identical computers and some mineral oils or distilled water.

>I'm not sure you're aware how water slides work, but they've got a fast-running stream of water running in them that carries you along.

Yeah. The waterslide wouldn't be wetted, which may make the water stream travel faster down it, but that's the only difference there would be.

Ok, how about from a different perspective. What if you coat a tire in this stuff and drive on a wet road? would it increase or decrease traction? what if instead you coated the street? What if instead you coated both?

I don't want to be sliding around the place.

>> No.5585656

>>5585634
Traction would generally be better, but when there's risk for water planing nothing would differ because it requires pool-like water accumulations or runoffs which still could form. As long as the road and tyres make contact it would be superior traction though. Most likely however, both the surface films would be ablated after a few cars.

The windscreen might be neat though, on both side as it should prevent fog buildup as well as wetting.
