>tqw you try to explain how you move your arm and find it impossible

We can explain how to tie our shoes, build rockets and the neural activity involved in moving our arms, but we can't describe what we do when we move our arms up and down, how to do it.

Why is there such a huge explanatory gap surrounding our minds and will and what our experiences feel like?

So how would you explain to somehow how you move your arms?

Lets say you had to teach someone how to do it, like how you teach them to tie their shoes.

Visualize your arm moving, now fucking move it. Protip: Use these spinal nerves: C4,C5,C6,C7,C8 and T1.

Easy, I stimulated my brachial plexuses in a way i could move my fingers to type the previous statements. My brain sends the stimuli through neurotransmitters and ions that went through the synapse, you know, stuff goes from axon to dendrites.

That's about as much as we can explain.

No, some nerves magically stimulate themselves, i'm talking about the sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous systems.

>you dont actually know how to move your arms?

Yes, i actually do. in my previous post i said we have some autonomous nerves and some that we can move ourselves, The ones that control our arms are part of this group, they form part of the somatic nervous system. We know how to move them through a cognitive process called syneidesis. You know, it's very hard to explain and i guess you won't be able to understand it, so i won't do it today, besides, it's to late for explaining that kind of stuff.

consciousness is not a single point, but a multitude of perspectives held within all of your brain. Obviously there are some parts of the brain that don't perceive any sensual stimuli, but still have their role to play. Most of your explicit awareness is generated by the cerebral cortex.

Basically, you move your arm by sending bio-electrical impulses down to the muscles in your arm. where the impulse comes from is from the motor cortex, which can receive signals from the conscious and reason driven part of your brain (cerebral cortex and frontal lobe, which decide you would like to move your arm for a specific reason) or it can get the signal from the more reflexive unconscious parts of the brain (like the spinal cord when you touch something hot.) All the neurons work together to make a network of organized information. The purpose of which is to self preserve and preserve the other parts of the body.

Shh. Don't say consciousness or the consciousness guy will come to rape this thread. Instead, you can replace the word with it's greek equivalent "syneidesis" that means the same and sounds more scientific.
