Quantum theory purports that observing a system will cause changes to that system. This means that Quantum Scientists actually believe that there is something special about human consciousness that causes such a change. This goes against my every intuition. Explain, /sci/?

>observing a system will cause changes to that system

It has far less to do with silly things like human consciousness are far more to do with quantum teleportation and quantum chemistry. Basically it's nothing more special than bumping the microscope into the slide.

That is not what quantum theory claims.
Also obvious troll is obvious.

no, anything that interacts with something is an observation.

no

QM has nothing to do with human consciousness. Its just bunch of brainless faggots claiming that if particles behave "as if they know they are observed" - thats how pop-sci shows says - thats the proof for conciousness of the universe.

Observing doesn't mean a person looks at it, it means it is measured.

How do you look at something without measuring it in some way?

>> No.5576768

Theorist A, lets call him Jim, learned about as much as you could about the frontiers of neroscience; specifically the edge of our understanding about how consciousness arises and ended up with the notion that " we don't quite know how you get consciousness out of a mass of transistors, but we know it works".

Theorist B, lets call her Jane, learned up to the cutting edge of quantum theory; then arived at the notion that "We don't know how or why it works, but it always seems to work."

Jim and Jane started dating, and they thought it'd be a good idea to make it seem like together they only misunderstood a single idea. So they thought up quantum consciouness.

Until a single shred of evidence supporting the idea can be brought forth for peer review, that or a sleight variation on it is basically as far as quantum consciousness is accepted. It's interdisciplinary pillow talk.

Looking at it is observing it but observation is a much more broad term than looking at it. So there's nothing special about people.
