Asking them what they do believe in, then. Also why they believe it, and why they don't believe in evolution. Get some understanding as to why they have different views, then try to explain yours (without trying to alter what they believe). Have an intellectual discussion instead of just assuming they're retarded.

If that doesn't work, run to the nearest gun locker, chamber two rounds, and paint their beliefs all over the office wall, then spray your own over it, that way only yours can be seen and you come out superior.

>Scientific classifications are now more often based on monophyletic groups, that is groups consisting of all the descendants of a common ancestor. The New World monkeys and the Old World monkeys are each monophyletic groups, but their combination is not, since it excludes hominoids (apes and humans). well, to the modern zoologist we are just a peculiar sort of fish. And our last common ancestor with chimps would be classified as a chimp, so it's not far off to say we evolved from chimps- just not modern chimps.

regarding fossil dating, we use decay rates of radioactive isotopes to date them, primarily uranium-lead dating. however the explanation isn't particularly simple and the model of carbon dating is a fair example of the principles involved.

mostly we find uranium in zircon and decide how long it's been sitting around by how far the uranium has decayed into lead.
