The pyramids will last long after anything modern civilization has built of that scale, but that's because modern civilization doesn't waste thousands of lives building pointless monuments built to last and do nothing else.

I watched a pretty convincing documentary that suggested in addition to wooden sleds, ropes and some of the other usual suspects that the pyramid construction involved two additional things:

1. An inner ramp
Proof of this for the documentary purpose came in several forms ranging from a collapsed hole with blocked passages in it at the edge of one pyramid, old scans showing a weird square-spiral of sorts within the pyramid and a few other tid bits.

2. A pulls system
Proof came in the form of notches in the grand gallery, marks from ropes and marks from wood sliding against the stone as well as a dip at one of the central top stones where the stone was smoothed out for the rope and wood pulley/sled system.
