How come water can burn skin at temperatures below 100 degrees celsius? It's obvious that once the water in our cells starts boiling, things will go south, but why does a mere temperature difference have such an extereme impact on molecules in the same state of matter?

I know that proteins for example lose there structure (and functionality) when above body temperature, this is irriversible

>> No.5531561

with high temperature the molecules start to move fast so i guess this is harmful for the cell structures

Energy will be transmitted to hand even with lower temperatures and the molecules starts to vibrate. Now go back to kindergarten.

OP, your cells are not simply water. A skin burn does not mean the water within your skin is being damaged.

73c for 10seconds is the recommended temperature for killing bacteria in chicken.

You think humans are better than chicken bacteria?

- proteins degenerate
- chemical equilibriums get shifted
