This has been bugging me for years, what was before the big bang? Where did it come from?
There must have been a cause for it. Is there truly no possibility of a deity kicking it off, after which evolution took off?

Why does it bug you? Why does time have to supersede everything?

The answer is so bizarre that when and if we do discover it, no person will be able to fathom even the slightest thing about it.

Right, instead we should solve this problem right ITT.

No, we could probably just solve all of the mysteries of time and space now and call them facts.

Right, riiiiiiighht?

from what i know, there was the same universe before the big bang. tyme is cyclical, and repeats itself. The idea of the big bang is not that it came from nothing, it is that the universe became so massive that it collapsed in on itself so intensly that it once again exploded out on itself, and on and on and on forever. same concept as balck holes, except that the supernovae that create black holes also create many more baby stars.

Your focus on "theory" makes me think you don't know the difference between a theory and a hypothesis. faggot

>> No.5480043

Stephen Hawking thinks that there was nothing before the big bang, because with it time itself started
(As with black holes time stops)
I really like the way he talks about it in the curiosity episode, but 4/8 of the thing is useles clips and shorts, and 3/8 is for retards

I find this theory interesting too:
http://www.huffingtonpost.co.uk/2012/10/11/physicists-may-have-evide_n_1957777.html#slide=465055

combining both, before the big bang there was nothing, like before chapter 1 in a videogame there's nothing

tl;dr there's nothing, deal with it

>> No.5480063

The problem with theories of what happened 'before' the big bang is that they are all inconclusive, but various camps of people treat these theories as gospel regardless. There is a great amount of evidence that a big bang recurred, but whether the universe is cyclical, open, closed, finite, infinite, and so forth are still very much open questions.

There was no time, it started with the big bang. No time, therefore no "before."
