Is reality/thought pure?
The comparison makes sense from the fact that mathematics talks more rigorous deduction and lesser buzzwords than any other subject though.
I am so bored with question like this one, you aren't trolling, right?

On yet another hand, mathematicians like to say that math is to physics as a DICK is to sex.
Very important tool, infact, you cannot have sex without a dick, as you cannot have physics without math.

xkcd forgot one last step: Mathematics is just applied Metaphysics.

Philosophy > All

For example, not all in math is certain. Differing kinds of infinity, the square of negative 1, etc.

At the same time, most philosophers would consent that the ONLY certain sciences are geometry and arithmetic.

If by "pure" you mean exact, then I would have to say yes.

However, it would be unfair to say that this means the less "pure" fields haven't contributed anything to science or civilisation.

Especially biology, with its connections to agriculture and medicine are of tremendous value.

Outside of a senior capstone you don't really get into foundational mathematics at an undergraduate level. I'd definitely play the odds that he hasn't studied that either, but if I were given that post alone and had to choose the most unlikely I'd choose philosophy, he only hints at ignorance towards maths but he screams ignorance about phil

I don't think you know what you're talking about.
>not all math is certain
this is ambiguous, but I'll allow it (for now). I assume you mean it's not entirely rigorously defined from first principles? This is true, but even so, your examples are shit...
>different kinds of infinity
aleph numbers are rigorously defined (though of course CH is impossible to prove under ZFC), and analytic infinity has a rigorous definition as well.
>square of negative 1
come back after you've taken an abstract algebra course, it's actually quite easy to define.
>geometry and arithmetic certain
number theory is hot right now because we don't understand arithmetic.
and geometry is way too fucking convoluted, I'd hesitate to call the entirety of it "certain."
