You might as well go fuck yourself. If that doesn't float your boat, get an engineering degree then go to med school.

i wanted to be a doctor once, or even just successful in university. i used to be a dean's list student, but my constant anxiety has caught up to me. currently i can get by being a B student without doing any studying and with only doing poor quality work, but it won't last long. i just want to drop out and live in my parents' basement.

I wonder how many people choose math-related fields because they want to look smart vs. how many people in those fields who are actually smart.

Not wanting to bring dishonour to famiry is the #1 reason for most people who do math degrees, the six figure starting salary is the second most common reason

Being ugly and nerdy is also a good reason to study math. Go look at these geniuses.

Honestly, half the reason I stuck with physics is because of how bad of a rap philosophy majors get. And every time I mentioned considering becoming a teacher after graduation people told me what a waste it'd be for me to become one and how that was meant for people that couldn't go farther in their education, so that kind of nixed that career as well.

I don't particularly think there's anything wrong with it, I like being respected and being in a career where I wasn't wouldn't make me happy.

I was rejected by Cal/UCLA and went to UCSD. I really hated that dump; should have gone to CSUN. SD was so boring and all those Redneck losers on the military only made it worse.

pretty sure CSUN is worse than UCSD in every single way if your goal is not to get drunk as much as possible while in college

>> No.5470253

>>5470206
It depends. If you are from the 818/805 area codes and are rejected by Berkeley and UCLA than CSUN is the same as UCSD. Most people I know that go to CSUN got into UCSD but rejected by UCLA and did not want to move to San Diego. Every LA/OC person that I know that went to UCSD hated it.

Bottom line anything other Caltech/Stanford/UCB/UCLA is a sloppy seconds school. I went to UC Davis because I was rejected by the mentioned schools and too poor for USC.

Different person. But I transferred to Davis from Pasadena College. Davis is the exact opposite of SOCAL; it is a small farming town. I went up there to visit and just wanted to live in another part of the state; I had never been north of Ventura. You are close to Sacramento and all the other good stuff in NORCAL. I like to cook and you get the most awesome food products right on campus.

I really loved it there and had a blast. If you want it to be like Westwood then you will be disappointed. But if want to enjoy another part of the state then go for it. I miss long ass peaceful bike rides on campus and local produce.

I majored in EE/French and really enjoyed both programs. I checked out UCI & UCSD but they are commuter schools and just like any other SOCAL school.
