this chart is just bullshit dude, but more importantly: there are so many (new) BME/BioE programs out there by no-name universities and no-name departments, so of course the majority really is a waste of a degree. However, if you go to a school like Duke or JHU which has an established BME program, not some third-rate piece of shit by the likes of Vanderbilt etc., it is fucking top tier.

Bowdoin is definitely elite, but it's a small liberal arts college. It ranks right up there with Pomona, Calremont, etc., if not better. It's acceptance rate is lower than that of University of Chicago, it's just a private liberal arts school, not a University, so there's no public research fund.

/thread

We do science so we can have a concrete understanding of the universe we live in, in terms of physical phenomenon with causal relationships, described with mathematical specificity.

We do engineering so we have better technology, better medicine, longer lifespans, etc.

We do art so we can enjoy the things science rewards us with.

We do philosophy so our art will be something a little more than just aesthetic.

Also philosophy is the father of all fields, for philosophy is simply thinking about shit. You can't say that's not important in infinite contexts.

Seriously niggers, learn2humanity

Science is the engine of progress, but engines have fuel. Scientists, philosophers, etc. are bread and raised average people, who give their lives to trivial pursuits that intelligent people are too undisciplined to dedicate themselves to. Didn't Rock Paper Scissors teach you guys anything about life? The starter pokemon? Archetypes have circular superiority, not linear. The earth is round, not flat. Pyramids have bases.
