What are the scientists and mathematicians you admire most, /sci, and why.

Here is a pic of Henri Lebesgue for you. Because he so deeply transformed calculus with his integral and deeply influenced the way modern science understands statistics.

My favorite scientist is Daniela Titan because she inspires girls to be interested in science.

Benoit Mandelbrot. I wish he shared his ontology with the world.

>anyone other then newton

Step up senpai

It's too easy of an answer though so i'll go to Richard Feynman. Something about this man just connects with me.

You've gt to be kidding me. There are so much better role models for future fmale scientists. Do you even Marie Curie ?

>> No.5412122

Maybe I should have added: we all know that 4chan loves Sagan, Seldon, Feynman and inb4 Hawkings so no need to mention them yet again.

I personally add Boltzmann to the list.

This guy has spent his whole career figuring out to communicate the most complicated aspects of physics to the uneducated mind. He gets people interested in sciences, but is also just a super-cool badass.

archimedes of motherfucking Syracuse, bitches !

he just invented the screw and the cogwheel.

Pi is also named archimedes constant and his quadrature of the parabola was simply integral calculus 1900 years before newton or leibnitz. ( but leibniz was pretty badass too )

How about Emmy Noether ? She did give us some groudbreaking results, particularly in algebra and in the study of symmetries/invariances;

Let's add James Clerk Maxwell, to further your point. He unificated electromagnetism and is work are still to this day the basis of physics college course all around the world.

I suggested Emmy Noether after that. I didn't want to put two women in the same post out of fear of 4-chan misogynistic backlash. Sorry for underestimating you guys.

Good one, also.
