What the fuck happened to NASAs big announcement about what they found on mars? I've been checking news sites and so far there's been no mention of it. What's going on /sci/ have they released the information yet or what?

The virus.
Curiosity found a strange device and when it's probe touched it, a signal was received.
They lost all contact with curiosity for 12 hours, within which time they reported they had made a historical discovery and they needed time to fully reveal it. That discovery being a non-human made object on mars.
However, they never got the chance to investigate it. By the time they reconnected with curiosity, the virus had learned everything it needed about humanity. The first signal recieved compromised NASA's mainframe,. Within 5 seconds every computer, security system and even pen drives were under control of the virus.
From there, things escalated very quickly as when a technician attempted to shut down the mainframe via the direct junction, the virus entered his nervous system via contact with a conductor. From there, bit by bit, he lost control of his body to the virus at which point his brain began telling his body to produce cells, cells which have not existed in millions of years. his DNA, rewritten and body already exhaling biological copies of the virus into the air.
Within 4 hours, every person in the centre was affected and became conduits for a long dead race to spread their long lost DNA into biological tissue.
They know if humans find out, it could be stopped very quickly and they would truly die out. But their greatest minds, cloned into the data an that ''ark'' of their race, bueried on mars awaiting discovery of a biological race, have had millions of years to perfect their plan.

They will do it gradually and carefully, not directly taking control of their hosts, but hiding within them... an extra bit of ''inert'' genes recently added to the DNA of affected humans.
Once their numbers are large enough and enough people with power are ready to submit, the initial controlled NASA scientists, monitoring us with out own satellites, will begin the signal, activating the currently dormant DNA and triggering the biggest genocide the galaxy has seen since their own race was exterminated.
In that instant, every infected biological carrier will have its DNA gutted and rewritten and over time will mutate into the race that once was.
All non-infected humans will be quickly routed out and exterminated.

this is their message.
The clock is ticking

It was just a gimmick to create interest in the Mars mission. They haven't found anything in particular, just more dead, UV-blasted rocks.

I just googled a few lines of this and it seems like this is OC. Mind if I use this as material for a short sci-fi story?

It kinda sounds like the plot of that one about the small "rocks" that altered people who touched them

Not sure why you think manners are something that sets 4chan apart from reddit.
