This isn't really science and math, but I hope this is the right place to ask this.

I saw a movie called "monster" the protagonist got raped by her fathers friend when she was 8. Her father got mad and beat her up for it. She was homeless and alone at 10 and started prostituting herself, getting beaten and raped almost daily. At one point she tries getting a job as a secretary in a law office. This made me question this whole idea of having fun now or later when talking about studies, like science. All science students seem to have sex and party in High Scool-College-grad school and still have fun later in life.

It's all about how you plan your time.
All through high school and now in University i've been going to parties, but I also make time to study.
With more study 2 weeks before an exam, or 4 weeks before a big exam, and more partying when theres no assignments etc.

the truth is, is that some people have to work harder than others to get to a certain goal. some people are gifted and can go through undergrad without trying, and some people work their ass off. in the end, they can both end up in the same place.

tl:dr hard work has nothing to do with having fun or earning anything in life
