Here's the advantage of man-powered cargo ships
1) save energy, diesel can be used for other things
2) no pollution

How good is a modern man-powered cargo ship?
What's the speed of a modern man-powered cargo ship compared to normal cargo ships powered by diesel.

Is it possible to start a man-powered cargo ship business (to transport long lasting goods that won't deteriorate)?

This is the worst thread on 4chan.

I firmly believe there's a counterexample out there, I just cba to find it

In what way were you going to utilize manpower in this endeavor? The problem is that machines are just too efficient to overcome. You'd have to hire laborers on top of crew which doesn't pay off in the end when you can just use a machine. The last man-powered boats I can think of are oarships or paddleboats. Compare.

Yeah not too great. If you were going to come up with a viable alternative you have to think more towards other things you can improve for transport like a propulsion system that is enhanced or a more efficient engine - it doesn't even need to use diesel but you have to run on something.

I know it's probably a troll thread, but I'll bite.

1. A human powered ship would still require fuel in the form of food.
2. Humans still piss and shit. However this COULD be reprocessed into fertilizer.

As for power, I don't have exact numbers, but I'm going to estimate that most of the non-cargo area would be filled with men. Even then it might not keep up with a modern diesel.

Man powered? Like oars and shit?

some cargo ships have sails, saves them a ton of fuel

This is the only way this thread could have possible gotten better, thanks for the input.

This is actually a very cool idea, why dont most use Kevlar sails?

no they use cylindrical sails made of carbon fiber or metal

this is a great idea.
no fuel, get powered by the substance you are travelling on. only downside i can see is when there are no waves. anyone elese see a downfalls?

We should talk about God so we can feel superior to scientists again.

Those nerds don't get laid.

>no pollution

Added fuel in the form of food would only move the pollution to the food production industry.

Lol row harder OP!

You'd be better off just building a sailing vessel with sails that double as solar panels to charge the ships batteries. still retarded tho
