I don't get why people think wanting to become wealthy is a despicable thing either way. As long as you get the science done.

Really only applies to people going into medicine, maybe engineering (who will be disappointed). Every aspiring pharmacist I've ever met is only doing it for the money. Same for most med students.

My "goal" in life is obviously not getting rich and I'm also not someone who gets a lot of joy out of consumerism, but I do hope to make enough money to comfortably pay the bills without my life having to revolve around making it to the next month financially.
Realistically, I think I shouldn't worry to much about that, because I know I can get a wellpaying job fairly easily after graduation and I also know I don't want a big car and a big house and stuff like that. I just want to be financially stable and do what I love to do.

Just accepted to dental school. The average salary of a dentist is over 100 grand a year. Furthermore, it's a 9 to 5 job, and you get to be your own boss.
