A nice 0.7 or 0.5 mechanical pencil glides over the page. Graphite is commonly used as a dry lubricant fyi.

A ballpoint pen on the other hand, requires such a comparatively high pressure to roll the ball, that the friction fights you considerably the whole way.

If you want proper glide though, join the master race and return to the fountain pen.

Powdered graphite maybe, but hardened graphite you have to drag across the page and press down hard to make your mark on the paper. Gel and fountain pens require far less force.

>> No.5237478

>>5237468
Note's aren't meant to be perfect, they're supposed to model your thought process so that you can quickly relearn the material. So some mistakes don't matter, you work around them. It's better than taking time to erase a mistake and missing something.

As to why use pens over pencils? For me they write better, I don't have to deal with lead, and they're just faster... It's personal preference, but I write way faster with a pen.

Also, they put out a retractable V5 recently. I was suspicious at first, but it writes just as dark and smears as little as the V5. It writes mildy smoother too. It is only slightly thicker than a normal V5, has the same point, and has a finger grip. It has refillable ink too, so less waste. Clicking it gives me something to do.

I do this, it really helps a lot.

My instrument of choice are those new InkJoy pens by Papermate. They're thick enough for me with no annoying grippy thing (I rotate my pen in my hand constantly as I write, grippy thing gets in the way). Also, the ink is really dark and flows fast. So far, the only downside is if I drop them with the tip out, it'll get scratchy.

Pic related - notes in color.

Also, I should start carrying green.

A few times yeah, but I haven't found any good ones. It's been a long time since I looked. Most of the ones that I've used in the past are poor quality and either jam up inside, or break apart.

Also - refills. I'd hate to run out of black and not be able to find the right kind of replacement. Or, if I lose a pen right now, it's only one color (and not all of em if I lose that)
