If you were to dig a tunnel from one side to the other, creating an island of sorts, would the land above collapse down? I am not talking leaving a few inches of dirt. I am considering about 30 or more meters of dirt thick.

His pattern indicates two-dimensional thinking.

LMFAO. Right. Consider that I meant a moat. And ignore my blunder.

A moat that extends toward a center point, underneath, creating half of a sphere that is. Fuck I cant believe my first post...

It seems like a silly question, but what I mainly am interested in is will there be a depth at which the island will not collapse down, due to gravitational/magnetic forces?

>> No.5230002

>>5229992
why should magnetism have anything to do with this?
about gravity: it is always going to collapse, since two bodies always atract each other. and you're talking about two separate bodies as soon as you've finished your digging.

U-u wotm8?
Of course it will fall what is wrong with you

jeez dude, whats with you and these moats

>> No.5230012

what i'm really asking is if somebody could post some moat porn. i really need some moat porn.

Yeah, eventually there will be a depth at which this thing will work. You're better off just using supports though. Why do you want to do this?

>> No.5230014

>>5230013
no. there won't be. see >>5230002
do you even physics?

>> No.5230025

>>5230014
Not that guy buy yes he physics.
Are you really trying to claim that the gravitational forces to the side and some weak ass magnetic force will keep the island floating?

>> No.5230028

>>5230025
lrn2read.
5230013 says that this WOULD work at a certain depth.
5230014 says that this WON'T work, that it WON'T float. because of what 530002 said.

Oh, wait, my bad, misinterpreted semispherical. Thought he meant it only went half way around the thing.

Now I feel like a dumbass.

Why would he even ask this question?
