Now that I have your attention, anyone on the west coast of California picking up this fucking huge red glow taking up the western corner of the sky? No it's not city lights, I live in a town of only 3k people and it's 11:30pm. I'm thinking solar aurora, but I live in Cali, we don't get those in Cali >.>

TL;DR: fucking weird glow in the sky, tell me what it is.

See that's the sucky part, digital camera is dead and when I tried using my phone cam, it came out black(shitty phone) Think of what the sky looks like when there's a fire on the horizon, like behind a mountain and you only see the glow. Cept there's no fire. Also it got very foggy the second time I went out, which made the glow seem to spread because of the light reflecting.

You sure it's not red mist? You might want to contact your neighborhood shrine maiden and have it investigated.

It can't be aurora, it's a 'nice day' as far as space weather goes:

on a perfectly clear night out by the lake, anywhere between 1-3. But we're way fogged in right now and I still see it nice and bright(even brighter since the light is reflecting off the fog) and besides, it's on the horizon rather than straight up.
