Has anyone any hints on how to achieve higher concentration? In the last years, it seems to me that I've partially lost the ability to focus as much as a I used to, and I want to change that. I'm not talking about medication, but rather some sort of mental exercise or something equivalent. Any ideas?

Practice. Cryptic crosswords are good for this and fulfilling. Minimise distractions.

My passwords are usually cryptic in a way that each part of it relates to something different, so it makes sense to me, although it appears completely random. How exactly is that supposed to help, though?

it's crosswords not passwords
the things you found on newpaper

Tell your doctor you have ADHD, snort the medication. Failing that, cocaine or speed.

i wouldn't choose passwords from the newspaper, it's liable to dictionary attack.

dual n-back. you can't get consistent results, other than shitty that is, without concentration.

Physical exercise will improve your concentration, it stimulates everything, be sure to eat well.

This can't be stressed enough. When I regularly exercise, I feel great every day during that period. I haven't done this for two months or so and I feel like shit. Every task seems boring and tedious. Abstaining from masturbation may also help if you get over the first few days or weeks.
