Hey /sci/,

I'm in no way attempting to start a typical "IQ thread", because I genuinely need the following information for a social experiment.

>Take the following mensa-certified IQ test:
http://www.mensa.no/olavtesten/#

>Post *SCREEN SHOT* (this is necessary, as its the closest thing to tangible proof)

>Zodiac sign (For classification purposes, rather than asking "month of birth"; though not of the utmost importance, it'd help tremendously)

>PROSPECTIVE/CURRENT/PAST COLLEGE MAJOR; both this and the screen shot are necessary for the data.

I will be bringing up similar threads on several other boards that concentrate in more literary fields if I don't have a varied demographic.

Please know that both the SCREENSHOT and your COLLEGE MAJOR are both vital and will be of no use if not included.

Thanks for all your help!

i can answer all these questions given enough time.. i'm the type of person that works terrible under pressure becasue i am always forgetting, i even sit and have to double triple and quadruple check the answer on even the first questions its just the way i am, always overly careful... the timer seems to be just separating out people who work well under pressure or have good memory from those who don't.. given enough time though i am very effective at bringing together information and getting the 'correct solution' i still got 130 on this test.. but wow the questions i was still answering them without problem really up until the time ran out with 100% score

The problems are too simple though. This may work for the 70-130 range, but the test lacks good problems for higher ranges. The | block subtraction problem was good, haven't seen that one(won't ever get me twice though, which is the problem with the test). The Lines + lines - double lines problems were too abundant, as were the rotation problems.

This is a good point, and I've considered this. This is not particularly necessary for the following reason: I'm comparing scores with other board on 4chan. I assumed that the best scorers would post scores on all boards (where "best scores" would be defined by the other scores posted in the thread). So if a person scores a 105 on /b/, a 115 is going to look phenomenally better, and as long as the highest scores are within a fair range, the total sample will essentially lay around this number. It's not the most efficient system on a technical note, but it's certainly the best I have with such limited resources.

I'm going to be honest though, I took it twice.

Actually it's been found to change over time, generally in the negative direction. James Flynn theorizes this is because our environments start to become less and less cognitively stimulating as we age (this is why Doctors lose IQ playing shuffleboard faster than an average joe, what Flynn calls the Bright Tax).

IQ has like a .8 heritability by adulthood, but that's within groups, and recent research shows that among some groups (like those with lower social-economic status) heritability decreases. So you might not be at your genetic potential given what your environment is like.

Depends the one thing about timed test is it hurts people who are naturally slow practitioners or have anxiety issues. So you might be pretty intelligent but the test like these reduces the visibility of it.

For instance I usually test around 120 on timed test but when time is not a factor I can score at or slightly above 130.

But I wouldn't let a test stop you from pursuing a field your interested in though.

Also lets not forget...

"IQ" - 125
Zodiac - Cancer
College major: Neuroscience (graduated)

Probably would have been higher but I got bored and started daydreaming about halfway through which meant I left 6 questions unanswered (and three blind guesses in addition to that at the end).

Anyway, like all online IQ tests this one shouldn't even be taken with a grain of salt. Real IQ tests are much, much longer and do a hell of a lot more than just pattern recognition. They also have decades of research behind them and are developed by teams of PhD psychologists, not some random guy in Norway in his spare time. So if you're worried (or excited) about your results, don't be.
