Hi guys, I have a favour to ask. Could someone help me better understand the maths I have to do for my Biochemistry degree? I was really good at Chemistry related maths back at college but I can't seem to get it right at University now.
Any help is appreciated. Thanks :) Picture isn't related to this, but is related to my Problem Based learning exercise.

What's the difference for you?

I have to finish through Calc 3 and DiffEQ is reccomended for a B.S. in Chem at my Uni.

In the UK, college is the last two years of high school.

Yeah, what >>5208586 said.

But they changed a lot of stuff like how they label the concentration of things instead of using molar they use micrograms/litre and the like which leads to confusion when I work out volumes needed for dilutions and similar.

Sorry for the slow reply, was eating my dinner.

Ah, I see. Don't get confused about things like that. Nobody really "changed" anything, you're just recognizing that there are many ways to define concentration. In the end, it's always a ratio of some compound to a measurement of the system it is in. That's not the type of math you really need to worry about (most chemistry prior to PChem and Inorganic requires no more than basic algebra, and some log functions).

I just can't really seem to get them right and I'm unsure why, I follow my lecture notes and stuff. My calculator can't even get the standard deviation questions right when I use the in-built function for it! He did a workshop on how to use excel to do it but I wasn't there and don't have excel so I don't know D:

Your calculator does exactly what you tell it to. It's a machine, and short of some internal error, the "wrong" answer it's producing is most likely a result of you not fully understanding how to use it properly.

Go to wikipedia and learn what standard deviation is. It'll explain deviations of a sample set, and entire population, and why each are relevant. You can't be one of those kids that gives up on a topic because you missed class. It's not like your professor is the ONLY source of information accessible to you in this grand-ol fucking interweb era.
