So I just set up a really shitty chem lab at my house. What are some beginners chemistry experiments I can do? Making acids, flash powders, etc

>really shitty chem lab
Elaborate.

>> No.5195575

ammonium tri-iodide

lots of it at once

im talking kilos of it

>> No.5195576

Copper Cycle, Electrolyte Detection, Ion Tests.

The possibilities are only limited by you bro.

You can do that in your kitchen sink, don't need a chem lab.

You should try to synthesize some LSD

ive come to the conclusion that /sci/ has the opinion that the only thing you can do with chemistry is make drugs. Hell no one even talks about bombs anymore.

Nitric Acid
Sulfuric Acid
Hydrochloric Acid
Acetone
30% Hydrogen Peroxide
Cottonballs
Water

You figure it out.

yea yea i see it. all im saying is usually "herp i bought some lab equipment /sci/ what do?" thread goes strait into accusations of drug making or "make meth DO IT FAGGOT". explosives are more fun anyways.

Combine Ammonia and Bleach for a weird bubbling effect that looks awesome.

please stop. at least make meth or something so you'll have fun while killing yourself with amateur chemistry

methamphetamine is not very safe to make either.

what does /sci/ think of this for a first kit.

>buying chemistry kits to do chemistry
Shit's for kids man.

Buy some glasswork:
>erlenmeyer flasks, lots of them
>beakers
>watchglasses
>funnels, both plastic powder and glass liquid filters
>roundbottom flasks + appropriate stoppers
>reflux condenser (shit's expensive)
>destillation spin
>magnetic stirrer/heater + oil bath + stirring bars
>glass filter funnel or Buchner funnel + small cheap vaccuum pump (aquarium pumps are an okay price, but they don't last very long)
>chemical resistant syringes + needles
>(big) graduated cilinders
>and off course some kind of weighted setup to hang it all on

I recently made a BIG ball grinder with a friend
>dat finely ground aluminium and magnesium

A chemistry kit is an inexpensive, easy way to get your hands on a bunch of reactants that you wouldn't otherwise have.

>> No.5197719

>>5197709

yeah, a bunch of small quantities of boring reagents.

if you really want to do at home chemistry, look into illicit drug chemistry methods and materials. the guys who make synthetic drugs run labs that are basically the best you'll ever get short of a university or industry lab
