Use the Intermediate Value Theorem to show that the equation
x^3+ 10x^2+ 8x − 50 = 0
has roots between 1 and 2, between -4 and -3 and between -9 and -8.

IIRC you need to use the Intermediate Value theorum to show that the equations has roots between 1 and 2, -4 and -3, and -9 and -8.

>> No.5144691

how do you use the intermediate value theorem though

>> No.5144701

just evaluate the function at 1&2; -4&3; .9&8;
if 0 is contained in the interval, say (f(1),f(2))
then there is a root within (1,2)
