Schrödinger's Cat explained.
Enjoy finally understanding this fascinating truth that the cat is both alive and dead because nobody looks at it!

This man looks like science.

Poor cat

i agree. reported to PETA.

In quantum physics, the very act of observing alters the outcome of an experiment.

That is insane

lol pig disgusting american plebs

The pic in the OP is dishonest, as it ignores contextual placement effects of the letters, consequence of origins in other languages.

>> No.5061380

>>5061376
That was the point of the picture. If you take a look at other languages, you will notice that the pronunciation is not dependant on the context of each letter in most words.

But in English, ghoti would never sound like fish. Dishonest.

>> No.5061658

>>5061384

this is not true. english, unlike spanish, does not have rigid rules of pronunciation.

Think about it. What does one need in order to observe something, specifically with one's eyes? Light. Which, in turn, fundamentally alters particle behavior. That's the long and short of it.

or any other phonetic, defined language in the world

That is completely wrong.

he's looking at it from a macular perspective, in which case he is valid.

They aren't rigid, but they are derived rather than completely random and have patterns that lead to expectations. Ghoti never leads to fish. Dishonest bullshit.

Didn't Schroedinger want to say that you can't apply "real world stuff" to the quantum world? I always thought that this was the entire point behind this thought experiment.

Non-sci fag here, btw.

>>5062575
Schrodinger was trying to debunk quantum physics as stupid pseudo junk science.

The effects of quantum physics are integral to the "real world".

just because we can't observe them easily doesn't mean they don't affect things.

>> No.5062636

>>5062575
It's an extrapolation of the quantum world to the real world. By using an equally probable quantum event, such as the chance of a radioactive substance decaying in an hour, in order to trigger the geiger counter/hammer/cyanide you can extrapolate what actually happened in the quantum world to the real world cat. The Copenhagen interpretation that since we don't know if the radioactive substance decayed or not it is therefore in a superposition of both decayed and not decayed is absurd. The cat either died or stayed alive regardless if we opened the box or not. From what I understood, Schrodinger was pointing out that superpositions are a reflection of our ignorance of which path quanta took, rather than actually taking both paths.

However wave-particle duality and the double slit experiment suggest that quanta actually do take both paths.

So, was Schroedinger basically a science troll? Telling people with troll-science that what they are observing is stupid?

Like I said, to me it seems like it's only about showing that quantum mechanics don't translate very easily(if at all) to a larger scale.

The interference happens because the particle isn't observed. The particle doesn't take both paths though
