Eh, it was OK, but I just don't have any ideas that I can see making a major impact on the world, and making money -just- to make money really has no allure to me anymore.

My real problem is that coming out of my PhD program, I had a good enough CV to get a top level academic job, with plenty of research in the pipeline. After taking a few years off though, everyone questions my dedication to academia and I'm basically locked out of the types of schools I would like a job at.

Hell, I really have no reason to complain. I have all the money I'll ever need, a beautiful long-term girlfriend (and probably eventual wife) and a healthy family. But I'm directionless in life.

All that glitters is not gold.

the study of turbulence is to fluid mechanics what thermodynamics is to classical mechanics.
I don't know if we'll ever be able to model everything.
But turbulences for a small enough Reynolds number are pretty well described in simple cases (like a cylinder or a sphere in a flow)

Maybe it's be easier to try to solve navier-stokes equation...
