Are some humans born less intelligent than others?

If yes , what are the primary factors that affect the result?
Also if yes , why do our school teachers tell us that intelligence is acquired , not inherited?

IQ is a polygenic trait under normal circumstances according to recent research. However, certain single gene genetic disorders can severely affect intelligence, with phenylketonuria as an example.[4]

Estimates in the academic research of the heritability of IQ have varied from below 0.5 to a high of 0.9. A 1996 statement by the American Psychological Association gave about .45 for children and about .75 during and after adolescence. A 2004 meta-analysis of reports in Current Directions in Psychological Science gave an overall estimate of around .85 for 18-year-olds and older.
The New York Times Magazine has listed about three quarters as a figure held by the majority of studies.

I guess you can put it this way, the brain is a muscle, you can train it, but some people are born with more testosterone and it's easier for them to train it

Not sure if Genes or prenatal Influences. I mean, look at all the women taking drugs during pregnancy. Is it really the genes that fuck the brain up or rather the trash mom flooding the fetus' neural network with alcohol?

Your IQ isn't this or that if you haven't taken a Stanford-Binet / Raven Matrices test administered and supervised by a Mensa psychologist.

Online IQ tests mean absolutely nothing and are a horrible measure of intelligence.
Not only are they not real IQ tests, they are fueled by advertisement money and the need to get people to visit these sites in order to generate revenue.

>> No.5019429

I have an IQ of 142 and all I do is practice math and lift weights. (Seriously, exercise is an insane nootropic. Extremely effective and beneficial for intelligence and quality of life). Make sure to have a good diet with Omega 3 and macronutrient intake.

Now, not going full /fit/, I believe intelligence is partially genetic and partially alterable via neuroplasticity.

>Are some humans born less intelligent than others?
Yes

>If yes , what are the primary factors that affect the result?
Genes, nutrition, intra uterine events, etc.

>Also if yes , why do our school teachers tell us that intelligence is acquired , not inherited?

Because it can be developed. An obstinate average guy can outperform a gifted lazy guy.

Some people are naturally stronger than others. Some people will never get beefy no matter how hard they train but they still can get stronger than a guy who is naturally strong but spend all day watching TV and posting on 4chan.

I think that's wrong. If you spend a few years dedicated to diet and studying solely on the focus of learning, you can 'raise' your IQ to 130 no problem.

Think of it this way, OP:

Your genetics give you a "window" of intelligence. You may open it as widely or as narrowly as you wish with work, but the window itself cannot be stretched by natural means. This does not mean that two brilliant people will absolutely have brilliant children. The same goes for the opposite. There are a variety of social, environmental, and health-related ways to modify intelligence.

>> No.5019487

Eh, intelligence works much like getting /fit/. Some folks are born ripped as fuck and others aren't. You can increase your intelligence through working out your brain.

He can improve but you don't make a genious only with effort.

As I said. It can be developed but every person have their limits.

Let's put it like this. I'm naturally stronger than the average. This means that even if I spend most of my time in front of the computer/video games I'm still stronger than the average guy. Does this means that someone who is naturally weak can't get stronger than me? No! But he can't get as strong as someone who is naturally strong AND develop it.

Let's say that someone is born with 100 in a trait. The average guy. Another is born with 80, he is naturally weak in that trait. And another is born with 120, he is naturally strong on that trait. And let's say that with a lot of effort one can double their score so the "weak" guy can get a 160 score, pretty high but he will never get a 240 score like a naturally strong guy who worked the trait too.

>Are some humans born less intelligent than others?
Born? Not enough information. Raised? Definitely. Humans form the vast majortiy of their neural connections before the age of 8. A genetic "idiot" born and raised to form the neural apparatus for success between his shoulders will be much more intelligent than a "born" genius trained to appreciate pop culture from birth.

most likely a troll, but it depends on how you define intelligence, and almost all people (and even a lot of non-sentient animals) can become more intelligent; also no one's born with significant knowledge, and everything with a complete brain can learn knowledge

Genetics

Usually it's stated with the borrow definition of knowledge. Other times it's with the implied gesture that "you" simply have yet to use your maximum possible potential in general or in a correct manner.

why do people badmouth IQ test so much?

No it's not an absolute measure of the worth of a human's brain, but it's a good indicator.

All it takes to get ahead in life is being slightly above average and having creativity, anything beyond that is a bonus.
