tl;dr: First week of Chem 139 doing metric conversions.
Background information: I'm mathematically retarded.

>A kindergarten classroom requires at least 2m^2 for each student. How many students could be placed in a 550 square foot classroom?

My thinking was there are 3 feet in a meter so multiply by 2 and get 6ft^2.
Divide 550ft by 6ft and you get 91.6 square feet.

I don't get what I'm doing wrong and this is so frustrating. :(

I pray to Jesus you are a troll. If not, you are a retard. There are not 3 feet in meter.

Now go away, and check your math/troll harder.

I'm not a troll. Just looked it up and there are 3.2 feet in a meter.

I still don't know how to do this problem...

OP how did you even pass high school?

Yeah but I failed Algebra 2 and had to re-take it.

I'm going to try to help you here. First, you don't multiply by 2, you stupid motherfucker. You've got to convert 550 square feet into square meters (or 2 square meters into square feet. Whatever you want to do)

We know that a meter is roughly 3.28 feet. To convert, we could use dimensional analysis, but I feel that's a bit too advanced for you. divide 550 by 3.28. This gives you 167.64 square meters.

Now, divide this 167.64 by 2. If you calculate this, you'll get 83.81999999999999. You don't need all those damned 9s, so truncate. (Yes, you could round, but it wouldn't matter anyway, because you can't round to the next whole number) You'll have 83. You can put 83 kids in that fucking classroom. You should really read up on how to do algebra.

>>5010027
you fucked it up, too.

550 ft^2 /(2*3.28) will give you square meters. then divide by two per child. 550 must be divided by 3.28 twice because square meters is meters squared.

>> No.5010080

>>5010075
You fucked up as well. You divide by 3.28 * 3.28, or 3.28^2 not 2 * 3.28
