Can people please link me to sites/articles which contain scientific criticism of that History Channel show "Ancient Aliens" or whatever it's called? I'm in a heated debate with someone about how she cannot possibly quote that TV show as SCIENCE, but she insists, and I quote, I'm just "Acting like those people who didn't believe Galileo when he said the Earth was round and orbiting the Sun." and refuses to listen to anything I say until I show her actual scientists criticizing the show.

Everything in there is pretty much legit, we only make fun of it to avoid the frightening truth contained within it.

there's no actual hard definitive evidence suggesting that aliens have been here in the past. Could they have? sure. But science all starts with the observation. Before you can ever make a hypothesis about aliens or whatever, you have to have an observation with evidence to make sense of. Science doesn't look for evidence, it takes the evidence and works with it to make sense of it.
Tell your friend she's retarded

I think you need to sit down and watch a show (if you can put up with it, I know after 5 minutes I have to change the channel) and take it claim by claim. For example there is good debunking of the face on mars bullshit all over the web here is a good example http://www.badarchaeology.com/?page_id=607
What you need to do is take a single common claim and find the debunking for that. The pyramids were built by aliens for example because no one person could devote the time to debunk every bullshit claim on the "ancient aliens" show. http://www.badarchaeology.com/?page_id=573 general

What about the evidence regarding the tens of thousands of UFO's reported every year? Even if one of these are authentic, that would imply either:

A) Space men are real.

B) We have highly advanced propulsion technology which enables us to reach space in a fraction of the time it would take our current rocket technology to get there.

Pick one.

Fun fact. God or yahweh of the bible is actually reffering to the human like aliens that genetically engineered us to be thier worker slaves

C) There are anomalies that human science hasn't figured out yet.
Just because it's unidentified, it flies and it's an object doesn't make it an alien.

>genetically engineered us.

They didn't do a very good job.

so you're saying they're inter-dimensional in origin, or what? it's either us or them that made them, regardless of the time/place in which they were made.

I'm saying that these reported UFO sightings could be entirely natural occurrences that modern science can't explain. Ball lightning for example - our science can't yet express for what reason it takes place and/or it's erratic, unpredictable behaviour. This example itself could account for some of the reports. Most likely we have barely scraped the earth's surface of nature's bizarre incidences; let alone natural occurrences in space.

Actually, Tesla was able to recreate and describe the process of this phenomenon over a 100 years ago.

I wonder what the world would be like today had his experiments/documents been readily accessible to the world.

>What about the evidence regarding the tens of thousands of UFO's reported every year?
And what about the <insert large number> of people who've claimed to had near death spiritual experiences? Or fuck, just had spiritual experiences chilling in their church somewhere? I HEARD GOD'S VOICE.

There are better explanations for both phenomenon. Any number of them. Based on the context of the specific event. But the core root is human stupidity and the limited knowledge of an observer, and until you have something more tangible than "some guy said he saw something in the sky and he also, without support of the notion, said it was aliens," you have _nothing_.

The very, very, very best you can do is say, "we saw lights in the sky and no one's really explained what they were." And I'm sorry, but to go from unexplained lights in the sky to aliens makes you a total dumbass. That is not how science is done.

"...by merely snapping his fingers creates instantaneously a ball of leaping red flame, and holds it calmly in his hands. As you gaze you are surprised to see it does not burn his fingers. He lets it fall upon his clothing, on his hair, into your lap, and, finally, puts the ball of flame into a wooden box."

I demand an explanation for this wizardry.

Assuming without proof that that a phenomenon is something that contradicts current understanding while a proven non-contradicting explanation exists is...

k so you're quick to jump to potentially false conclusions and I'm willing to withhold judgement until further evidence is provided.

who's the real scientist now?
