Do you neglect your body, /sci/chics? Why aren't you doing SS? Why do you hate being attractive? You won't get any funding if you don't look your best. Oh god, do you seriously wear athletic shoes into meetings when you don't even work out?

Man, I would sincerely be tempted to marry that girl if she just randomly asked me on the street.
Not that that would ever happen

Meh, I often refer to good traps as female. Regardless of gender that person is cute and I would probably enjoy snuggling.

As a guy, if you don't have a abs you aren't considered attractive by skinny standards. It is easy to accumulate belly fat. After that, it easily becomes a one-way road where you cannot stop satiating yourself. hunger is instantly gratified when you believe that "I'm fat anyway". at the beginning of each day I tell myself "today I will diet". but in the late hours I can't sleep on an empty stomach so I end up overeating anyways. the cycle continued until I became overweight, hopeless, and forever alone. never breach the point of no return.

Okay there seems to be some things that I'm not understanding here:
A. OP looks like a girl but people seem to be suggesting it's a trap.
B. Regardless of gender, they're not thaaaat attractive.
C. Regardless of how attractive they are, why choose that over this?

>> No.4975990

>>4975988
I think the person in OP's pic is more attractive than the person in yours, but to each his own.
Though the person in your pic is still cute.

I try to stay fit, I do quite a few board sports to keep me active as I find traditional methods of working out to be boring.

Social Science is easy and boring, I read Psych textbooks in my spare time.

I think the dislike with attractiveness can be for a few reasons, ones I can readily think of are; (1) the worry that it is the main reason for attention gained from males (2) the worry that the friends you think you are making are actually just attracted to you (I'm also a lesbian so this is a larger concern for me, constantly having to shoot people down feels bad / is annoying).

Athletic shoes? Wat.

Abs are for show. Be strongfat. What good are abs when you can't lift that barrel? A real man will lift that fucking barrel a thousand times and eat his weight in meat right after.

Don't focus on appearance, anyway. Just lift and set your sights on being stronger than anyone around you.

What you say has some truth to it. Altough abdominal muscles (when developed properly) are considered aesthetical, your abs also serve a purpose. They are there to keep your "core" (as they call it in fitness terms) stable. They are there so when you need stability in your core, they will contract and provide pressure for your internal organs and spine to not flabber over all the place.

Same works for your lower back muscles, you don't see them as much but they still have a purpose.

Who cares if she's a trap? She's cute and likes dressing up.
Traps are often smarter than real girls anyways, minus the whole gender confusion thing.
Some traps are batshit insane, but the cute 4chan ones are awesome.

Are you saying that strong people are stupid?

Strong people are healthy people who know how to eat right and exercise. They're not all stupid.
Neil deGrasse Tyson would destroy you utterly in both knowledge of science and in a physical fight.

The people who are stupid and should be mocked or stoned to death are fat people. Thin people can be smart, but lack strength, strong people can be smart too, because they have a passion in life, but fat people are truly worthless.
Disgusting.
Fat people can easily become thin by eating right and working out, yet you can't become smarter so easily.
Don't mock people because they weren't born as smart as you.
Mock them because they lack passion. Fat people are stupid and lazy and deserve to get made fun of.

I don't get it.

I don't know why strength is associated with stupidity and weakness with intelligence. I guess it's because of western culture, but I'm not quite convinced that's 'it'.

The only cultures that I can immediately think of aspiring to a healthy mind in a healthy body are the ancient greeks and the nazis. Possibly also europe during the renaissance. All western cultures: If anything this stigma should be less pronounced to our culture, not more so.

Jung's archetypes may provide clues. I don't know.

>> No.4976612

Ancient Greeks and Nazis had the kind of solidarity that encouraged strength in mind and body, but that kind of solidarity is rare these days. We're too fragmented + physical strength is mostly "useless".

>> No.4976617

>>4976597
Traditionally, if you spent time on sports and exercise, you weren't spending it studying and learning. Professional athletes have practically nothing in their lives other than exercise, and social conventions in geek groups may see physical strength as an obstacle to actual rational discussion due to the threat of physical violence that exists if someone's offended.

So strength is generally untrustworthy, unless trust is implicit. In the same vein, many people find intelligence to be untrustworthy. The general sentiment is that if you're strong or smart, you're potentially dangerous. If you're both...

The examples of nazi Germany and ancient Greece are also both very warlike societies (The city states of Greece were in perpetual conflict and the Nazis made few and feeble attempts to disguise their intention of world domination. The unison of purpose and necessity of fighting prowess makes physical ability acceptable and even admirable: You are not the weakest link.

The traits of intelligence and strength are often married in villains. The prospect of being faced with someone smarter and stronger than you is profoundly frightening. On the flipside, physical frailty is sometimes shown as a sign of corruption, eg Emperor Palpatine, Grima Wormtongue, the hunchback from 300. The same is true for the Hunchback of Notre Dame, but only to challenge our expectations.

It's often viewed that activities are exclusive, that one activiity detracts from the other. My own experience is that this is only true to a limited extent.

Each pursuit may inform the other.
