hey guys i need a lil help...

A plane can fly 300 miles in the same time it take a car to go 120 miles. If the car travels 90mph slower than the plane, find the speed of the plane....

i concluded that the car is going 60mph and the plane is going 150mph but can't figure out a formula.. help thanks

so the plane is 2.5 times faster

[plane] = 2.5[car]
[plane] = [car]+90
2.5[car] = [car]+90
1.5 [car] = 90
[car] = 60
[plane] = 150

find the speed difference first
300/120 = 2.5

call the plane x, and the car y
treat it as simultaneous equations

x = 2.5y
x = y + 90
2.5 y = y + 90
1.5y = 90
y = 60

x = 2.5*(60) = 90 + 60 = 150
