Why do you look down upon us engineers, /sci/?

To an engineer, all that matters in the world can be placed into two categories:

1. Things that need to be fixed.
2. Things that needs to be fixed after you've had a few minutes to play with them.

A true engineer likes to solve problems, and if there are no problems available, they will create their own problems. They will start their own business to fix things people didn't know they need fixing. If it isn't broken, it just doesn't have enough features yet.

We are the people who are responsible for the design and creation of all man made objects in the universe, unlike the scientist who squats in a lab desperately trying to discover things for a little bit of pocket change. Engineers are actually the ones responsible for critical features of earth such as terran rotation, gravity, the speed of light, and heisenberg's uncertainty principle and can change this principles with the power of thought.

Society depends on engineers. One mistake of a doctor kills only one, one mistake of an engineer kills thousands.

This is why you see so many people append the word "engineer" to their job title, for example, "software engineering." CS majors majors use that term because there is a sense of importance attached to the word.

We need more engineers in this world. It is unfortunate that others put down engineers for using university for its original intention, to study.

The compound effect of the internet and the fact that there are ~100 4.0GPA Chinese engineering students for every US Engineering student makes your degree essentially worthless.
