Hi /sci/,

Pretty basic question. I have been googling but found no straightforward answer.

What are gametes made of?

I know they carry half of the necessary chromosomes and al that... The answer i'm looking for is their basic chemical constitution... Can't seem to find it...

Proteins.

They are made of atoms.

Nothing more than proteins? I'm looking for a more comprehensive answer...

They're a complete biological system. They are composed mainly of proteins, but they also have phospholipids, glycoproteins, cytoplasm, water, salt, etc etc.

>> No.4807013

They're entire cells. They're made of the same components any other cell is made of.

Maybe I don't understand the question?

Thx! Any good source that has a more definitive listing?

No. That's like asking what the chemical composition of the human body is.

You can call up a university and politely ask if they have any data on the matter, but it'll be about 250 pages of protein names you won't be able to understand.

How long is the body dead?

Another basic question then. If you compare a gamete with a dead body. Are their noteable changes in their constitution? Or are they pretty much equivalent?

Google "Eukaryotic Cell"

I don't know why you would bother coming here to ask such a basic question

1 hour...

i'm writing something about 'change'. And i wanted to know if their is any discernable chemical difference between what we essentialy come from, i.e. gametes and what we end up as... dead bodies..

1. Last time I checked this thread is about biochemistry.

2. Even if Biology isn't as rigorous as other sciences, this board is named science and math, not HARD science and math.
