What scientific degree should I get if I want to work in the space industry? I don't want to design rockets or be an astronaut, I just want to colonize space. What should I study?

Search NASA's website as they have some pages on what it takes to be an astronaut.

Ugh no thanks. The USA isn't the only country with a space program you know. I'm really excited to see what China and India do, and I plan on working in the private sector.

>>4777403
Space isn't just a place where people go, we need to do things once we get there. Do you think NASA or the ESA just flies rockets around for fun?

>>4777406
I like geology and geography and was thinking that could work. Should I study straight geology or maybe do geological engineering?

spaceX being one of the biggest private space companies at the moment, could see if they have any job openings and what degrees those require. If not, see if you can figure out what employees they have right now with what degrees.

Don't join the military, its not gonna happen.

Find companies like SpaceX, Orbital, Boeing, United Launch Alliance and look at what jobs they are hiring and what the degree requirements are.

The only other way is to become incredibly rich and buy your way to the stars.

Are you implying a AeroE does not design planes/rockets? Just because there are specializations in AeroE that do not design doesn't mean none of them do, who else do think builds that shit motherfucker?

Applicable for a space job and if that doesn't happen for you, still
a good gig here in Earth, considering the ever worsening natural
resources situation.

I also have a thing for history, would something like a Geology Major/anthropology or archaeology minor (for fun) be worthwhile?
