In that case you have nothing to worry about. Very little of real life requires tests. Go get a job instead of going to college and work your way up the ladder the old fashioned way.

What's 14x21?
>I dunno. I'm not good at math.
Alright then. What's the third most populated country in the world?
>India?
I'll give you a hint: China and India are the first two.
>Ummm. I don't know! I'm not good at geography!
I thought you were smart.
>Yeah, at things like History and English!
Spell definitely

So being smart means you can be completely ignorant to grade five mathematics and grade three social sciences?

>> No.4740853

>>4740848

No, but smart has more to do with processing information rather than retaining it.

You'd expect a smart person to know this. But, it's not what defines a smart person.

Can you not into distributive property?

14X21 = 14X20 + 14X1

That is easy mental math.

This is actually me. My teachers back in Highschool would always tell me that I was extremely intelligent, yet didn't apply myself. I simply could not force myself to give a damn.

I know it's a bit post hoc, ergo etc. but if anyone is doing really poorly in school, and think they're capable of doing better - I advise they take a break from it for a bit.

Not in my school. Teacher's would put kids down if their grades were terrible. Besides, I got 90+ on every test. Just never did the homework.

Translation: I can't understand this material

to be fair, both are probably true. And it isn't always used as an excuse (i.e. learning Freud in psychology.)

He said...Id...Ego....blah blah. Wait, this is testable material? But....but it's wrong.....what the actual fuck?

You think it really helps? I'm trying a year away from school after a truly terrible 3 years of college. I'm working right now and plan to go back in the fall '13. I'm a little nervous and if you have any advice by all means share.
