hey i'm working on some differential and partial equations, and was wondering if there's a program that i can use to map out 3-d equations and do everything else i haven't learned yet. anything off pirate bay is a plus cuz i'm not paying for shit. inb4 lurk moar. i'd rather deal with the hate and come here first.

Mathematica

I don't know how to use that. Do I need to understand the math first?

My vote goes to MAPLE. I've been using it for years and the interface for basic stuff is stupid easy. You can even enter in equations symbolically and it will take care of the rest if you can get the graphing syntax right.

And if I'm not mistaken, MathCad will do the same thing, but starting out it's sort of a bitch to work with.
