I recently talked with a lot of people about evolution and there appears to be a big amount of people who rather believe in creationism. Is this normal or did I just - by chance - encounter a lot of stupidity?

>> No.4698081

Huh? I hope this is a troll thread...

/sci/ almost unanimously believes in creationism.

Where are you from? Yurope?

You now realize creationism opposes abiogenesis and not evolution.

Norwegian here, I have yet to encounter anyone who doesn't accept evolution - and I've spoken with a lot of christians.

This, of course does not include muslims, as I have yet to decide whether I should even consider them as a part of my society or not.

We really should. The argument towards general lower-class crime doesn't really seem to work either, as the rest of the asians, as well as certain easter-european and african groups manage to get work, and establish good families without resorting to violence.

But oh no, these muslims just fucks around in their purple BMWs, beating up skinny teens (they're all manlets, so they only go in groups).

Hell, I could even accept crime, as long as it were restricted to stealing, and organized robbings. But these people start up teen thug-level mafia groups, just beating up everyone who even just simply looks at their gfs.

Germany has a good literacy rate, but the masses are dumb. We have good science and economics elites, though. Common people are controlled by media to a very high degree. Self-thinking is not very usual.

Denmark, Switzerland, Luxembourg, Norway, maybe Austria, maybe France.

Switzerland has an excellent school education and a pervertedly high standard of living (also costs). Scandinavians are very tolerant, another thing Germany lacks.

Germany is a land full of tumb worker drones with a small capitalistic ruling class that kisses China's and USA's asses.

America grew on a lot of the uneducated people from Yurop over the centuries. They cling to their old beliefs.

>> No.4698325

But the population in Europe has been improving their education level. The education level in America seems to be rather bad, so people mix up religion with science as they did with creationism. Low education levels can have dramatic effects on a whole society like in some third world countries in Africa.

>> No.4698326

raising the school education can teach a basis of knowledge on which people can make their decisions or actions. also it is important for keeping a balance of education in the population. when there is only a low percentage of educated people and a high percentage of non or poorly educated people, democracy can not work in any way.

Christian here.

I think the main problem is this asshole:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/James_Ussher

There is nowhere in the Bible, let me repeat, nowhere in the Bible that states the Earth is 6000 years old.

In fact, the information on the creation of the world is MISSING from the Bible.

You hear that? Missing. The 7 days creation is the planning stage, like constructing on paper, or if you will, creating as an architect creates through design what a building will look like.

Then we have missing information. Then we get the following statement. 'and God placed man in a garden Eastward in Eden'. Seriously, go google "two creations in the bible" and view results.

Creationism is a bunch of bullshit shoveled by ignorant retards who never studied the book they believe in.

>> No.4698665

>>4698462
The age of the earth from the Bible is determined through lineage, not an outright statement.

You may interpret it as a planning stage, or a blueprint, but that's just your personal interpretation. It does label them as days, so taking it literally, 7 days + ~6000 years of traced lineage is biblically supported. Saying the age doesn't show up in the Bible is a non-statement. Like saying that fossils don't tell you how old they are.
