/sci/ I need some help figuring this out. Just finished freshman year of college, ChemBio major, premed, at a tech school. Ordinarily I think I would've gotten good grades, but my shit got rocked first semester when my dad died in a car accident. Really fucked me up to the point I couldn't study. As a result my grades were pretty average. My current GPA is a 3.0. So my question to you is, am I fucked for med school or can I turn this around?

So should I transfer into a different major then and just try getting an engineering job or something?

Don't fucking be a worry puss. Just do the best you can at what you want to do. You have your whole god damn life ahead of you. One semester won't fuck up your entire life.

The 3.0 is my cumulative so far, after the first year.

Don't worry. Just get a lot of experience and do lots of research if you're really worried so much about it.

Of course, that's easier said than done...but don't give yourself anxiety about it.

You will be fine. You will be able to let med schools know about what happened this semester, as long as your grades are super strong the rest of the way through at least some of them will basically throw this semster out. Parent dying in a catastrophic accident is about as fucked up as it gets. Sorry about your dad man.
