nope.

The duty of humans is to propagate the specie.
And that isn't only done by fucking.
You also have to protect your children, and that's when science and technology comes in. With these we are able to protect more effectively our children from the dangers of the outer world.
We developed this curiosity and that desire for knowledge because it only has bought us advantages for spreading the specie.
If science wasn't beneficial, we would have stopped doing it.

So yes, science (and as a consequence, neuroscience) is a "duty" for humans.
