Not really.
You're a worthless piece of shit making lots of a worthless currency that you will use on worthless things. You're probably trolling anyway.
So, no. Nobody cares about your shitty job doing nothing and making money except to condemn you and spit on your feet because you're a leech.

You can stop lying already.
You don't have the expertise needed to be an engineer, so you're either a leech that pretends to do a job he can't do and makes worthless piles of a worthless currency that he's going to use on worthless things, or you're a troll that's trying just a bit too hard.
I think we all know which one seems more likely.

I found out how much independent contractors make and I hired on briefly with one to learn how to get into the field.

mostly in industry it's a matter of getting your name in front of purchasing agents and then doing good work for less than the next guy.

It's not really a matter of knowing the right people- you generally can't be friends with the client's buyer- but asking to have your name added to vendors lists and making sure you're in the phone book and online. If you are available and do good work you'll quickly find yourself very busy, depending on your field.

they're for environmental work at a mine I work on.

>> No.4673649

The laws on the US really are flexible. In my country you wouldn't be allowed to work almost anywhere without a degree, OP. Technicians have shitty salaries, in the ~30k range. You're really luck to live there, you know.

>> No.4673656

dont really care, so many engineers in my classes cheated their way through and wouldnt even know how to paint a wall if you asked them, some gear head or handy man can do most of their shit way better, engineers are only good if they actually went into engineering because they wanted to be engineers.

>> No.4673662

>>4673637
not that guy, but you're competing with tons of applicants with experience in industry.
I'd start lower, military experience is good, then follow with work as an operator or mechanic at a water treatment plant, or perhaps on a drilling crew in the gas fields, or even drilling wells or working construction.

something to get the relevant experience before moving into hard core mining or roughnecking.

hmm, that's a tough one. An employer is really going to wonder why you're applying below qualification. I wouldn't care personally, but I'm not sure how others would take it. It may not matter since a lot of positions are temporary anyways.

someone else may have better advice, I'd just admit to the degree and explain why I wanted to go get dirty.

You need to find their campus recruiting events/postings although if you are graduating now you might be too late. They made a posting on my schools job board and I applied and they wanted to interview me but by that time I decided not to. I got a 2.8 gpa in environmental engineering, if they wanted to interview me you should at least get an interview.

ah ok thanks, well I am 100% certain they didnt come to my school so not going to wait for that, but Ill try maybe a smaller companies or apply on their website. Only one company really does interviews at my school, GE, and I didnt get that. Offshore is growing and baby boomers are retiring, hopefully most of these companies realize there are not that many 10+ years experience engineers and start internal training again.

Money doesn't mather.
You'll all die miserable because your life didn't turn out how you'd imagined it be and if you could do it over, you would do it completely different. Every.single.time.
Nothing you'll ever do will mather.

>> No.4673773

>>4673750
You dont need experience. What these oil companies do is they hire engineers straight out of school, give them some training, pay them 80-100k a year and send them out to the field. Most of them quit after 1 year of work because they hate it so much. The few that stay on and can deal with the lifestyle make bank. You may not like it but you can get some experience doing something and make good money. Fuck I know a guy that is making bank just driving tankers of fracking fluid.

it's not that having lots of money makes you happy, it's more like not having enough really sucks.

You will always have too few money if you try to buy yourself to hapiness with stuff you don't need.

Believe me, the amount of money you need and the amount of money you want are two very different things.
