look at this. this is a .gif of jupiter's growth over the last 30 years. what will we do when it grows big enough to engulf the earth?

is there any way to stop it or slow down the growth?

>> No.4668457

but jupiter is actually shrinking, this gif is played backwards!

throw a jupiter made of ice at it

Or it's just getting closer in it's orbit.

Look at all that FLUID DYNAMICS going on

>> No.4668472

We can slow it by seperating it into two or more Jupiters. That may be our only hope for the future.

it looks like that central band of gasses is moving waay faster then everything else

Its gonna turn into ICE sun and then collide with our FIRE sun.

if it gains enough mass? and its made out of mostly hydrogen and helium anyway no?

its still no where near massive enough

How massive would it have to become? Not very star savvy so I'm not sure how much mass would be required to create a "insert color" dwarf? Or are "insert color" dwarves just phases of a star's lifespan?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jupiter

About 75times more massive to produce fusion

Interesting. Could we mount some giant thrusters on the other gas giants and steer them into Juptier so we can have two suns?

This happened in one of the Space Odyssey novels.

The aliens shot Jupiter with some shit (can't remember the technobabble explanation) and it turned into another (smaller) sun.

They did in order to encourage the growth of life on Europa or something.
