If I were to peer through a window set in intergalactic space, would I be able to see galaxies with the naked eye?
I so wish to see the superstructure of filaments that is the universe.

Your pupils would have to dilate like a motherfucker I'd assume.

You can see the Andromeda Galaxy with the naked eye from Earth, but not really anything farther away. So I guess you could probably see the nearest galaxies, but I'm guessing not larger structure like filaments or whatever.

It depends how close you are to the fucking galaxies in question.

No. Your eyes can't gather enough light to make out the deep sky objects.
You can hardly see anything of our own galaxy with the naked eye.

It's the human tragedy that when regular people look at enhanced pictures, they regard them as some level of science fiction, never realizing how little they actually perceive of the surrounding world.

If you could see more of the IR spectrum, this is what the Andromeda would look like:

Tell me how to locate the Andromeda Galaxy please!
Even if I can't see it with the naked eye just looking in that direction would be cool.
Maybe I would even find a telescope one night and see if I can see it with my own eyes.

Use a skymap on your phone.

It appears as a sort of smudge in the night sky.

M31, or the Andromeda galaxy is seen in the northern hemisphere in the Andromeda constellation, approximately 20º south of the Cassiopeia constellation.

The jagged constellation here in the upper left is Cassiopeia and Andromeda can be seen above Mirach.
