What's /sci/ opinion on Penn & Teller?

As Magicians?

As Pop-scientists?

I think they're pretty fucking awesome guys all around. They bring a much needed logic on today's television.

Not that I watch TV anyway.

They aren't pop scientists. They are science enthusiests.

I will be honest here, I didn't really know how to "classify" them. I didn't take "pop-scientist" as an insult or an offense, it's just what my vocabulary offered me that was the closest to what I see them as.

"pseudoscience debunker" doesn't really work... or does it?

Anyway, thanks for the rectification.

Penn was on the "celebrity apprentice" this season. Guy was the strongest player on the show. He was far the smartest and most qualified as well. He really didn't cause any drama though. He was always respectful, and considerate of others.

He got fired because he was basically too nice a guy. I will no longer be watching that show.

I didn't take "pop-scientist" as an insult or an offense either. A "pop-scientist" is someone like Neil Degrasse Tyson, a scientist who is very public and encourages scintific literacy to the general public.

Penn and Teller are great fucking guys, but they arent scienists. They even admit this happily. They are usually refered to as "skeptics" or "debunkers". Basically they question shit. They have a firm belief in science, even though that aren't scientists.

Took me a while to spot it.

... The more and more I'm digging into it (sorry, I do not watch TV and I am Canadian) what the fuck is that even? What do they do? Public presentation?

To win a 250 000$ yearly job for some dude?

I don't even get it. Explain to me, my brain is full of fucks.

I didn't use Skeptic because kids around here likes to flung shit at this word.

While we're there, I want to visit the USA for the next NECSS to meet people like Steve Novella and other skeptics I read and listen to.

They basically inspired me to go back into education.

I don't want to judge, but yeah, I do.

It's actually a pretty great psych experiment if you think about it.
>beginning of the show people are reluctant to start drama and only losing teams get drama
>as show progresses it gets more intense and competitive and drama escalates
>people start drama as soon as they enter the board room and the best manipulators stay on the show

Because donald trump doesn't make going forward assessments and only judges based on who contributed the greatest (in his eyes) to the failure of the task.

Sadly a strong player can fumble in a task for a myriad of reasons and be dropped from the show while weaker players survive by having no extraordinary successes or failures (theresa).

Bullshit should be on NBC primetime. The appretice should never be on TV. It is complete crap.
