You will never develop a complete and consistent mathematical theory.

incompleteness theorem. It's always great to watch the eager undergrads' faces as they learn that their whole world of reasoning has been turned upside down.

More like a collective yawn as people don't need to prove everything and only need the parts that they find useful.

some people must impose a parochial sense of order on top of world events, further compiled on top of a preexistent OCD

Remember that guy that spent 7 years in near isolation to prove fermat's last theorem, which was his childhood dream?
Remember that asian guy that suicided when he couldnt prove his conjecture about eliptical/modular functions (which implied fermat's last theorem, and both were proven later)?

If you don't have that kind of drive, you won't complete a mathematical theory/form a solid conjecture.

This is just common sense to anyone with a brain. It shows how stupid the average mathematician/scientist is.

Translating the argument to mathematics is a feat though.
