How do you guys improve your focus?

I find there are times when I'm in the zone (usually performing or debating or something) where my mind is totally working on one thing. No inner monologue,no consciously comparing things to other things, thinking about other stuff, just total focus on my task.

If I could get this down more often, my studying and my life would be totally overhauled.

How do you guys work on your focus?

Just practice "clicking" into this state. Listen to a song, then BAM! Try and click into equation.

Eventually... You learn to click.

Can you elaborate on that at all?
I was googling it, and I found this kinda thing, but I dunno http://zenhabits.net/focus/

Daily meditation.
Focusing on my breath, even more so while running.
And when I find myself distracted with silly stuff I apply the "Smile, breath, go slow" attitude.

For punctual distractions, some "mantras" work well.

Do you guys do anything specific to focus on work?
Stop your mind from wandering or quieting the inner monologue in your head?
I'm sure some of you guys have had the same problems.

I've found these 2 guys, which are no bullshit, new age stuff, just actual focus and awareness information

I use to when I was younger.
I dont think theres much to it apart from exercising focus, its like a muscle. Obviously if you find the task, you are focusing on, mundane then its going to be harder but like I said, its like a muscle.

OP music is often an enormous help, i know it sounds (pun) counter productive to be listening to something, but i did my own personal test taking an iq test with and without music, i did about 10 points better while listing to something like hard rock, the right music for the right situation can do alot for your mindset, for me what works best is loud dubstep.. strangely

When will they come out with relatively inexpensive kits for this, are there any simple DIY kits on the net?

It's called "flow". http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flow_%28psychology%29

I'm sure u can find some psychology books that helps u attain that. There is a well-known psychology who focuses on helping people attain flow.

anode is the one on the temple, cathode placement is on the arm in this pic but the shoulder is common too. remember it has to be on the opposite side of the body to the anode.

I found the next site very useful:

http://simplynoise.com/

Brown noise with 10% volume while having earplugs on definitely helps me to focus on stuff.

Why is this MP3 stretched out? Why not a LOGG or AAX or even a chiptune two second loop? Less than half a megabyte tops. Perfect inbuilt looping. Plays indefinitely.

(Not saying it's not helpful, but it could be pulled off better on the technical side of things. MP3 is cancer.)
