Good evening, /sci/.

This is somewhat unrelated, and too much into the social sciences/soft sciences, but I have my reasons. So hold your horses and let me explain.
What is your MBTI type?

I know, I know. I, myself, prefer the hard sciences.....however, I am curious to know what you individual /sci/entists are like.
I suppose this would do for now.

I graduated highschool with an associates degree in robotics (hybrid charter school, fuck year!), while my father was an industrial controls salesman in SE Michigan since before I was born. I've studied/been interested in sensor/controls automation from a young age.

I've since moved on from the technical side of things towards a bit of business, with a degree in technology management (implementation / making use of technologies). However, I'm always thinking about AI, neuroscience, sensors/controls, programming, and the like.

Usually try to keep up with newly released TED talk videos as much as possible as well as follow the Singularity hub tech blog.

Intj master race reporting in.

My guess is that most here are either intj and intp

Mbti is actually wrong, it should be interpreted as an abbreviation, not a type per se; it's based upon theories from Carl Jung, more especifically his so called cognitive functions. Tests are just shitty (do you cry at movies? Are you on time for stuff? Tend to not give a fuck for human relationships and feeling? Etc.). In order to accurately type oneself, profound studies are necessary.
That means, it's not wether you are intP or intJ, but if you use ni and te or ti and ne.

Also, intx are a minority, wich is why we are seen as weirdos by society, as we're over represented here (just like vegans are in salad restaurants).
From personal experience, I must add that mbti gave me a huge insight and understanding about people, it explains a lot of shit. I recommend it highly.

I like the second test. If the question is meaningless (or at least to you) you can put the middle.

I am very extroverted. When they ask questions like "do you prefer interacting with a group or with one person at a time?", it's meaningless to me. I do both. I love talking to anyone and everyone about anything.

At a party, I typically am the person who has had the most to drink. I usually am the life of the party until I see someone sitting there with no one talking to them. Usually I go up to them and start talking. I'm fairly good at getting shy people to start talking. 9 times out of 10, it's just finding the right subject.

A lot of shy people I meet aren't shy, they just have no interest in topics they consider "trivial". So even if I just met them, I try to talk about philosophy and my worldview and ask them deep questions about their worldview.

If they're quiet because they're not intoxicated, I usually start off there. I have used many drugs in my life, and at parties I get completely hammered. Some people are kind of uncomfortable around drunk people if they don't drink. I even validate their decision of soberness. I think it means more coming from the drunkest asshole in the room.

Also, this personality 'label' doesn't do enough credit for just how much I love being alone. My mind becomes a literal playground when in a secluded environment, and I restlessly explore knowledge, ideas, and talents when in this state. Unfortunately, any social interaction at all (even with fellow INTJ/P types) that I did not authorize myself brings me to a really confused state of mind that tears me apart long afterwards and is a tremendous drain on my motivation to do things. I still have very good social skills, but only in keeping conversation in topics relating to concepts (nearly always) and myself (only when asked). Unfortunately again, my skills have occasionally brought about the dire consequence of more extroverted types thinking me as a friend.

>>4574185

Most people are extroverts while shy because of social roles, which is why most people (especially at parties) yield to your efforts to bring them into your group. Yeah, if you refine the standard Forer "YOU ARE SPECIAL!" test by making it a handful of possible personality descriptions instead of one, you exponentially increase the likelihood of people falling prey to cold reading. Surprise surprise, "You tend to focus too much on your mistakes" gets less positive response from the general public than specialized versions such as "You are hypercritical; a perfectionist. You apply your scrutinizing analytical eye to everything, even yourself, and abhor bias."

Ever wonder why INTJ is so common on 4chan and /sci/? Because fucking every single person who takes the rest answers positively to leading questions about how intellectual and scientific they are, and gets the "You are a scientist!" result, despite being a 20~ year old who has done nothing and is barely above average in intellect. EVERYONE WANTS TO THINK THEY ARE SPECIAL. *That* is the root of the Forer effect.
