Well keep your chin up amigo, you've jumped a big hurdle getting that position! Getting that first engineering job is what makes getting the better ones easier, not GPA or anything like that.

When I graduated I was unemployed for about six months and eventually landed a job not too different from the one you've got now. I worked with that company for about 4 years (all while keeping my resume up to date and utilizing all the networking services available to me like linkedin) until I received an attractive offer from an oilfield service company, with whom I am still employed.

If I may continue, I have a few more questions:

Internships: any? if so how many and with whom?

What is your location? Are you willing/able to relocate?

What industry would you ideally like to work in?

>2012
>wishing as hard as you can will not turn you into a real boy.

you will need to do better than a Ph.D. in math in a related field to get a job as a quant.

try going into a Quant program, or doing a Post Doc as a quant.

also that was a big mistake, you should have realized it before you posted it:

>2012
>trying to troll people about graduate education
>forgetting about the universal necessity of Post Doctoral work in every single field of science, math, and engineering

I would have expected any undergraduate to understand this.

Majoring in a hard science/engineering will give you a good shot, but will not guarantee a high paying job; NOT majoring in a hard science/engineering pretty much eliminates your chances at getting the high paying jobs.

Accounting & Economics

I work at an Asset Management firm (medium size), am 4 years into my work. I have a salary of $136,000, 4 weeks vacation, employer matched 401k, and stock ownership (about 10% total) of the company. Honestly, I really just lucked out...most accounting starts around 40-50k.

21, Military Intelligence Analyst (not a degree)

I make about $40,000/yr now. I can expect to be making anywhere from $80,000-$100,000 starting. either government contracting or working for a private company. Which I plan on doing next year.

I plan to start going back to school to complete my EE undergrad, with the hopes that my security clearance will make me more favorable over my competitors. I'm by no means rolling in dough, but for a single guy, it sure beats surviving ramen in college dorms.

Anon said "pretty much" which means there's a limited window for careers that allow salaries past 90-100k.

-Law
-Medicine
-Programming
-Multimedia (technical)
-Business

and a few others, the problem is with the possible exception of "programming" the other fields requires either additional school time, connections or school pedigree to get jobs that can eventually put you past 90-100k a year.

Yeah, but getting a clearance can take fuck long time, especially when you are getting approved for something like sponsorship.

Although the fact it can let you enter with a starting salary of 70k+ is pretty nice.

It takes a long time only if you have a shady past history, or tons of foreigner family members. Took me 3 months to get mine. Good luck getting non-government employers to pay for a background check though. I hear they're like $15,000.

One of my coworkers is a Cuban immigrant with all of her family members still in Cuba, and it took her about a year to get hers cleared. To me that doesn't seem to ridiculous considering the circumstances.
