>No matter how technologically advanced man becomes, no matter how great our power to manipulate the universe, no matter how extensive our knowlege of existance there is nothing we can do to halt or stop the death of the universe. The quest for knowlege is no different then setting out on a quest to find the fountain of youth with an irremovable timed bomb strapped to your chest. One day the stars will grow dim and all life will wither and die. In the end All Is Dust...

yup but we can jump into an alternate universe that is new and fresh in energy

The death of OUR universe...

However, we could prolong our existence for billions of years if we can create a star from gas clouds, and collect planets that are rich in resources.

Not that guy, but it's a common false conclusion for people who bring up heat death. You know, stupid teenage I-just-discovered-nihilism bullshit. Heat death, nothing matters, better bitch about it on the internet.

Earth will be habitable for another 2 billion years. Assuming we haven't destroyed ourselves by then, I'm sure we'll work something out. The idea of storing large amounts of mass as gas clouds nearby to serve as future stars, the ability to drag resource rich planets to a location nearby (not even revolving around the stars you create, necessarily), could extend our lives by tens of billions of years unless the fabric of space-time deteriorates as well. We were using sticks and rocks just 7000 years ago. It's not a leap to think we could solve something like this in some billions of years.

Please define death of the universe.

If your talking about the universe collapsing in on itself then you fail to understand what a flat universe is.

ie: universe won't collapse in on itself it will simply continue expanding.

Also, if the universe was dying in any way shape or form. For you to claim that we will never be able to stop w.e death that may be is wholly ignorant of how little we know about the universe.

tldr - fuck you/ expanding/ assumptions everywhere

everything eventually will end. Everything on earth will be gone long before the death of the universe.

Assuming we actually travel to other worlds... well that existence will all end as well. This shouldn't be all that new to anyone. nothing lasts forever, not technology, and certainly not you.
this does not however mean that everything is pointless, we progress for ourselves, and for future generations. Even if it all exists for a brief period of time in the long life of our universe

Yeah, sure, if the bomb went off in several billion years and your natural life span is only 80+ maybe possibly if you're healthy.

I want those several billion years. And maybe in that time we'll figure out how to avoid heat death.

said Man, "How may entropy be reversed?"

The Cosmic AC said, "THERE IS AS YET INSUFFICIENT DATA FOR A MEANINGFUL ANSWER."

Man said, "Collect additional data."

The Cosmic AC said, "I WILL DO SO. I HAVE BEEN DOING SO FOR A HUNDRED BILLION YEARS. MY PREDECESSORS AND I HAVE BEEN ASKED THIS QUESTION MANY TIMES. ALL THE DATA I HAVE REMAINS INSUFFICIENT."

"Will there come a time," said Man, "when data will be sufficient or is the problem insoluble in all conceivable circumstances?"

The Cosmic AC said, "NO PROBLEM IS INSOLUBLE IN ALL CONCEIVABLE CIRCUMSTANCES."

Man said, "When will you have enough data to answer the question?"

"THERE IS AS YET INSUFFICIENT DATA FOR A MEANINGFUL ANSWER."

"Will you keep working on it?" asked Man.

The Cosmic AC said, "I WILL."

Man said, "We shall wait."

>the death of the universe

And where did you hear about that? Some theory, I suppose.

You know, there used to be only one theory on how the universe came into being (big bang). Then more recently, new observations showed that there was matter before the bigbang, possibly from previous universes. So theories change, and so new observations are understood differently in this light.
