Excuse me sir, but could you explain to me the purpose of Σ. Such as its purpose/function

isn't it for sets of numbers?

wtf am i reading in this thread, is this not supposed to be a science and math imageboard?

>> No.4472635

Hm. What letter could that be? Maybe a capital sigma. I know! Google capital sigma and see what pops up.

Do your own homework faggot

Σ is stating that anything inside of the upper and lower bounds of the symbol is less than anything on the left.

For example:
(5 Σ 2 + 2) is true
(5 Σ 16^0.5) is false (the 0.5 is above the symbol usually)

Care to give a reference for that? In my last decade of math and physics I've never seen sigma used for something so fucktarded, unless you just can't explain what you mean properly

sigma means product

pi is used to mean sum in a similar way

>> No.4472682

Don't use Σ it's too discerte and for pussys
Real men do their math with integrals (This one: ʃ )
